🎬 Film Music on the Organ
Film music is a unique genre: by appealing to our emotions, it can bring well-known scenes and stories to life even without the images flickering across the cinema screen. When these grand melodies are performed on the organ—with its vast and powerful sound—they promise a truly exceptional and unique musical experience.
The soloist of the concert is Ágoston Gedai, who evokes some of the most memorable moments of film music with his virtuoso organ playing. The program offers a true journey through film history and classical music: it features Miklós Rózsa’s epic prelude from Ben-Hur, Samuel Barber’s moving Adagio known from the film Platoon, and Franz Liszt’s lyrical Liebesträume, made famous worldwide by the film Song Without End. The program also includes Maurice Ravel’s magical sunrise from the ballet Daphnis et Chloé, music by Vangelis from 1492: Conquest of Paradise, and the touching song from Yentl by Michel Legrand. Passion is not missing either: the famous tango from Moulin Rouge and the majestic themes from The Lord of the Rings trilogy by Howard Shore will also be heard in new colors through the sound of the organ.
This evening evokes the greatest moments of cinema while showcasing the breathtaking sound world of the king of instruments—promising a monumental, emotional, and visually evocative musical experience for every lover of film and music. 🎶
