Lakatos András

András Lakatos is one of the most promising young Hungarian pianists of his generation, having achieved remarkable success at numerous prestigious international competitions across Europe. His studies have taken him to Graz, Stuttgart, and Paris, while his concert career has brought him to important concert halls and musical institutions throughout Europe.

Education

  • Since 2024, he has been pursuing a Piano Diploma at the Schola Cantorum de Paris under the guidance of Professor Maurizio Moretti.
  • Since 2022, he has been studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Piano at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts (HMDK Stuttgart) with Professor Dr. Péter Nagy.
  • Between 2019 and 2022, he attended the Pre-College Piano Program at HMDK Stuttgart, also in the class of Professor Dr. Péter Nagy.
  • From 2015 to 2019, he studied in the Highly Gifted Young Musicians Program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Kunstuniversität Graz) with Lioudmila Satz.

Prizes and Awards

  • 2025 – First Prize, Schumann Prize, EMCY Prize, and Audience Prize at the International Robert Schumann Piano Competition in Düsseldorf, Germany.
  • 2024 – First Prize at the International Music Academy Forte Competition in Brussels, Belgium.
  • 2024 – Third Prize at the International Béla Bartók Piano Competition in Graz, Austria.
  • 2023 – First Prize at the Munich International Piano Competition, Germany.
  • 2020–2022 – First Prize at Jugend Musiziert in both Piano and Chamber Music categories.
  • 2019 – First Prize and Special Prize at the Flame International Piano Competition in Paris, France.
  • 2018 – Third Prize at the National Four-Hands Piano Competition in Balassagyarmat, Hungary.
  • 2016 – Third Prize at the National Piano Competition in Nyíregyháza, Hungary.
  • 2015 – First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Murska Sobota, Slovenia.
  • 2015 – First Prize at the National Four-Hands Piano Competition in Balassagyarmat, Hungary.
  • 2015–2018 – Gold and Niveau Prizes at the National Sistrum Competition in Szombathely, Hungary, in Piano, Chamber Music, and Solfeggio.

Scholarships

  • Since 2024, scholarship holder of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
  • Since 2024, scholarship holder of YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Stuttgart e.V.
  • Since 2023, scholarship holder of the Christel-Guthörle Foundation.

Teaching and Accompaniment

  • Since 2023, tutor in the vocal class of Professor Ulrike Sonntag at HMDK Stuttgart.
  • Since 2023, piano teacher at Musikverein Vaihingen-Rohr.

Masterclasses

He has participated in piano masterclasses with renowned artists including Rudolf Buchbinder, Milana Chernyavska, Akiko Ebi, Boris Berman, Till Fellner, Antti Siirala, Markus Groh, Imogen Cooper, Joanna MacGregor, and Wei-Yi Yang.

He has also attended chamber music and song interpretation masterclasses with Bruno Giuranna, Nobuko Imai, Gregor Sigl, Luc-Marie Aguera, Benjamin Appl, Simon Lepper, and Jan Bjøranger.

Concert Activity

He has given numerous concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, and France. His performances have included appearances at Müpa Budapest, the Ministry of Culture of Baden-Württemberg, the Liszt Institute, Theaterhaus Stuttgart, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Steinway-Haus Munich, the Carmen Würth Forum in Künzelsau, the Prälatur Zwiefalten, the Robert Schumann Hall in Düsseldorf with the Cologne Chamber Orchestra, and Bartók Hall in Szombathely with the Savaria Symphony Orchestra.
