The most ambitious Hungarian artists of early music, György Vashegyi's two ensembles, the Purcell Choir and the Orfeo Orchestra, will perform the popular works of Lalande at the Opening Concert of the 38th Early Music Days.

The “grand motet” lived its heyday in Lalande’s life, of which he is considered the most significant representative.

Louis XIV, the French king proclaimed a contest, and the task was to compose a music for the text of the xxxii. psalm, the Beati quorum. Only four of the finished compositions were chosen by the ruler, including Lalande. The winners of the music competition shared the music service on a quarterly basis: the Christmas period  was given to Lalande, with which he secured his place in the royal court for a long time.

At the concert, the Purcell Choir and the Orfeo Orchestra will perform Lalande's great motets, conducted by György VashegyiGyörgy Vashegyi is a returning professor of Early Music Days courses, students can learn from him chamber music and orchestra during the festival.
