Many have attempted to express the creation of the world through music. The most famous example is Haydn’s oratorio The Creation, but numerous smaller and larger instrumental works have also been composed on this theme. On this evening, János Pálúr, organist of the Fasor Reformed Church in Budapest, draws inspiration from the biblical story of creation in a more focused sense, expressing his thoughts through the organ. However, the piece is not a fully pre-composed work down to the last note - it is an improvisation. This means that the final music will also be shaped by how the organ of the Eger Basilica and the atmosphere of the moment inspire the organist. It is creation - quite literally. Be there when it is born!
