Ruben Kozin is an Armenian pianist who began studying the piano at the age of five. At the age of twelve, he was admitted to the Central Music School of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied with Natalia Trull, Professor at the Moscow State Conservatory. He graduated from the P. I. Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in 2020.
He performs regularly throughout his homeland of Armenia as well as internationally, appearing in France, Georgia, Italy, Croatia, Poland, Lithuania, Malta, Kazakhstan, Denmark, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Belarus, and Russia. He has participated in prestigious festivals including the Visages d’Arménie Festival (France), the Gradus International Piano Festival (Denmark), the International Piano Meeting (Italy), the Moscow Meets Friends Festival (Russia), and the Belarusian Piano Assemblies in Minsk.
His extensive repertoire includes more than fifteen piano concertos. As a soloist, he has collaborated with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Sergey Smbatyan, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia conducted by Vahan Mardirossian, the Rostov Academic Symphony Orchestra, and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, he has performed with violinists Thomas Lefort (France), Karen Shahgaldyan, and Polina Sharafyan (Armenia).
Ruben Kozin frequently collaborates with contemporary composers, inspiring the creation of new works and presenting world premieres. In May 2024, he gave the world premiere of the Second Piano Sonata by Eduard Hayrapetyan (b. 1948), a work dedicated to him by the composer.
He is a laureate of more than thirteen international competitions and festivals, including the Andre Dumortier International Piano Competition (Belgium), the Aram Khachaturian International Competition (Yerevan, Armenia), the EPTA International Piano Competition (Croatia), the First International Eurasian Music Games in Astana, the VIII International Piano Competition in Almaty (Kazakhstan), the International Piano Competition FVG (Italy), the Yamaha Music Festival, and the Malta International Piano Competition.
Alongside his conservatory studies, he participated in masterclasses with distinguished artists and teachers including Akiko Ebi, Ronan O’Hora, Grigory Gruzman, Youngho Kim, Jenny Zaharieva, Eugen Indjic, Andrea Bonatta, Kevin Kenner, Pascal Nemirovski, and Vanessa Latarche.
He was a recipient of a Yamaha Scholarship and performed in Japan as part of collaborative projects between Kawai and the Moscow Conservatory.
In 2025, Ruben recorded the program for his debut album, which will be released digitally by Prima Classic Record Label (USA/Spain). The recording features Johann Sebastian Bach – Egon Petri’s Sheep May Safely Graze (BWV 208), alongside a selection of works by the Armenian composer Komitas. The album is scheduled for release in the summer of 2026.
Ruben Kozin is currently a fellow of the Primavera Foundation of Armenia.
