The Pécs Secondary School of Arts’ Symphonic Band is selected from the students of the high school, future professional musicians studying wind and percussion instruments. The ensemble's repertoire ranges from the Baroque period to contemporary music, including symphonic arrangements, musical arrangements and movie soundtracks.
The orchestra has been led by conductor Lajos Szilágyi for two decades. At the Music Harvest, Lajos Szilágyi conducts compositions like The Glass Dance (Ferenc Farkas), Zampa - Overture (Hérold) and The Merry Widow - Song of Vilja (Lehár).
The Pécs-Gyárváros Children and Youth Wind Orchestra boasts a group of young talents who cultivate and promote quality music. Their programme includes a selection of pieces by some of the best-known classical masters; they will perform the Hungarian Dance No 5 (Brahms), Can-can (Offenbach), an excerpt from The Nutcracker (Tchaikovsky) and the famous drinking song from Jerry Bock’s Fiddler on the Roof.
