Playing on the 'King's organ,' one of the largest and most prestigious keyboard instruments in Hungary, in the Matthias Church, is a rare privilege for every organist - and a delight for every listener. At the Philharmonia Organ Season concerts in Budapest, organ lovers can revel in the unique opportunity to hear renowned Hungarian and international organ artists perform on this magnificent instrument, presenting virtuoso pieces of organ music that will surely leave a lasting impression.

Talking a walk to the Matthias Church is an uplifting experience in itself, as you take in the magnificent view and take a moment to reflect on the historical events that the place has witnessed and the unforgettable time that organists have given to audiences of yesteryear. The present is no less historic, and today's artists are a match to their great predecessors. The organ has returned to its former glory for a few years. We are delighted to offer five different programs, with five different organists, at this unique venue every year. The queen of instruments will be played by renowned Hungarian performers such as the guest organist of the Augustinerkirche and Stephansdom in Vienna, Róbert Kovács, the Liszt Prize winner Szabolcs Szamosi, the German organist and composer Wolfgang Seifen and the organ professor of the Paris Conservatoire Olivier Latry. The concerts will not only feature organists, but the Kossuth and Liszt Prize-winning violinist Barnabás Kelemen, whose instrument will also enchant the audience, and the majestic sound of the St. Ephraim Male Choir will enhance the church’s spiritual atmosphere. The season also includes the Con Spirito Sacred Music Festival, one of the highlights and the closing event of the organ season.
