Szerelem opera idején
Pécs, Széchenyi tér - Opera Cuvée Színpad
Festival concert

The opera is not a particularly intellectual genre, as it does not really form and confront world views, ideas and philosophies, but there is hardly a better genre for expressing and portraying emotions. Texts catalysed by music can convey emotional energy like no other; the stronger and more extreme emotions, the more they call for the opera stage. This is also the ideal genre to portray one of the most passionate human emotions, love, so perhaps without stretching too far, we could even say: love is opera!

Love and opera reveals some exciting stories from the world of opera, in the form of arias, love duets and lots of humour, from operas by Mozart, Donizetti and Puccini. In the words of the Kossuth Prize-winning opera singer András Hábetler: “Even if you are not an opera-fan, but have already been in love, and don't mind an hour of quality entertainment, you are most welcome!”

As a unique feature, the performance is illustrated with paintings by Impressionist painters such as Monet and Van Gogh.
